MT. VERNON – A man was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Use of Weapons after being stopped in his vehicle for a traffic violation near the intersection of Fairfield Road and Cooper Street in Mt. Vernon early Sunday morning.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, officers and a K-9 unit from the Mt. Vernon Police Department arrived to help deputies. Their investigation found meth and an illegal “slap jack” style weapon in 58-year-old Lerone B. McWilliams’s vehicle
McWilliams was then charged for his crimes and taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await a pretrial detention hearing.
