Man Wanted for Burglary Arrested with Burglary Tools in Herrin Alley

HERRIN – A man wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for Burglary in Union County was arrested and cited for Possession of Burglary Tools after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies spotted him walking in an alley near the intersection of Polk and 17th streets in Herrin early Thursday morning.

Charles D. Scott was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Williamson County Jail according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

During his arrest, Scott possessed a variety of burglary tools, including gloves, masks, keys, hand tools, and other items commonly used to force entry into buildings. Deputies believed they had been used in the furtherance of criminal activity. Another item was found in Scott’s backpack. The owner of that item was contacted and confirmed that it was in Scott’s possession without the owner’s permission. The sheriff’s office did not describe the item found.
