Man Faces Multiple Drug Charges Following Mt. Vernon Traffic Stop

MT. VERNON – A man is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop near the intersection of South 17th Street and Casey Avenue in Mt. Vernon Sunday night.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped 54-year-old Corey A. Williams around 7:30 p.m. They knew his driver’s licensed had been revoked. His arrest and subsequent investigation led to the discovery and confiscation of large amounts of illegal drugs in the vehicle. More illegal drugs were found on him at the jail. 

Williams was charged with Delivery/Possess with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine; Manufacture, Deliver, Possess with Intent to Deliver Cannabis over 30 grams; Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine); Bringing or Possessing Contraband into a Penal Institution and Driving While License Revoked. He awaits a pretrial detention hearing.
