BENTON – The next session of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy is set for Oct. 1 through Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. The 8-week program will be held on Wednesdays.

Sheriff Kyle Bacon says this interactive, behind the scenes program will be led by highly trained and experienced members of the sheriff’s office who will share their unique perspectives and expertise.
Developing and maintaining good relationships with community members and organizations plays a vital role in reducing crime and increasing public safety according to Sheriff Bacon. He says the academy’s goal is to foster a better understanding and further improve communication between the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens the sheriff’s office serves.
The Sheriff’s Citizens Academy is open to any Franklin County resident, 25 years of age or older. Applications can be obtained at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on East Main in Benton. A digital application can be completed and submitted at www.franklincountyil.gov.
The application process includes a background investigation and the completion of image release forms. Space is limited, so apply soon!
