Sesser Man Gets 31 Years for Sexually Assaulting Family Member

SESSER – A Sesser man has been sentenced to 31 years in prison for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Franklin County State’s Attorney Abby Dinn says on Dec. 1, 2023, 31-year-old Luis Delacruz sexually assaulted a 12-year-old family member while the child was sleeping in their bed. Following the assault, the victim immediately sent text messages to his mother and father begging for help. When the father received the message, he called 911 and rushed to the child’s rescue.

Sesser Police responded and were able to stop a physical confrontation between the child’s father and Delacruz. Delacruz fled the area before charges could be filed. He was eventually found in North Carolina and brought back to Franklin County to face two counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child. Delacruz admitted guilt to one count back in March of this year. The second count was dismissed.

Delacruz will be on parole for three years to life following his prison sentence.
