Semi Collision Causes Injuries, Closes I-57 near Dongola

DONGOLA – Both northbound and southbound lanes of I-57 in Dongola were shut down for about three and a half hours following an injury crash involving two semis Thursday night according to Illinois State Police.

Around 7:10 p.m., the semis were going south on I-57 near milepost 23 when one of the semis began changing lanes striking another semi causing it to veer left, enter the median and strike the guardrail.

The driver of the semi that caused the crash was taken to an area hospital with injuries. The other semi driver was not hurt.

The interstate was closed until around 10:30 p.m.

There is no further information.
