BENTON – Franklin County Treasurer Steve Vercellino has released the timeline for 2024 Real Estate Taxes Payable 2025. Real Estate Taxes will be mailed by July 31. The 1st installment is due Sept. 5 and the 2nd installment is due Oct. 17.

REAL ESTATE TAX COLLECTION TIMELINE
Thursday, July 3 – No later than tax bills mailed to taxpayers.
Friday, Aug. 1 – Tax collection begins.
Monday, Aug. 4 – Friday, Sept. 5 – Banks can accept 1st installment payments or payments in full.
Friday, Sept. 5 -1st installment due date.
Sept. 6 to Oct. 17- Banks can only accept 2nd installment payments if 1st installment was paid.
Friday, Oct. 17 – 2nd installment due date. Last day to pay at banks.
Saturday, Oct. 18 – Remaining payments and penalties must be mailed to or processed by the treasurer’s office.
Friday, Nov. 7 – Last day to pay with personal check.
Tuesday, Nov. 18 – Certified notices mailed (Fee Added).
Thursday, Dec. 4 – Publication of unpaid taxes (Fee Added).
Friday, Dec. 12 – Last day to accept online payments.
Thursday, Dec. 18 – Produce annual tax judgment record.
Friday, Dec. 5 – Last day to register for tax sale.
Thursday, Dec. 18 – Application for judgment.
Friday, Dec. 19 – Judgment (Last day to remove property from tax sale).
Monday, Dec. 22 – 2024 Payable 2025 unpaid taxes sold. (More Interest/Fees) tax. Payer may redeem taxes in county clerk’s office.

4. At Southern Illinois Bank, State Bank of Whittington, Peoples National Bank, First Financial Bank, Legence Bank, and First Southern Bank.
5. Utilize the dropbox for contactless payments. The dropbox is attached to the south side of the Campbell Building off of Route 37 on Church Street in Benton.
