SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Hot and humid conditions continue across the region today.

The only relief from the heat will be daily thunderstorm chances, which will be small and temporary according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.
Peak heat indices from around 105 to 110 or locally higher are expected in the Extreme Heat Warning today and tomorrow. Areas in the Heat Advisory are expected to reach 100 to 106 today and tomorrow.
Isolated to widely scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms Friday through Sunday may provide some limited relief from the heat in Southwest Indiana and portion of Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky.
Heat index readings above 100 will continue across most, if not all of the region into the weekend and early next week. Additional warnings and/or advisories are possible as forecast confidence increases.
Remember to stay hydrated and limit your time outdoors. Always double-check for kids and pets in vehicles.
