BENTON – Benton residents will see a 2 percent increase on their water bill next month thanks to a new water rate ordinance that passed at Monday’s City Council meeting.
That was Finance Commissioner Christopher Kays, who says even though the council earlier in the meeting passed the Home Rule Sales Tax ordinance that begins Jan. 1 for water, sewer and street maintenance, the city has rising costs and until the city actually begins to plan those projects out, there are still system issues that require attention and requires raising water rates.
