PERCY – Two people were airlifted following a mine collapse Monday night at Knight Hawk Coal in Percy according to the Pinckneyville Ambulance Service.
One was flown to a St. Louis hospital while the other was flown to Carbondale.
It’s not known at this time what caused the collapse.
Perry County Ambulance along with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Ambulance all responded to assist.
