Windhorst Announces Re-election Run for 117th House District Seat

METROPOLIS – State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) says he’s running for re-election.

The Metropolis Republican has built a strong conservative voting record since taking office in 2019, amassing a 100% pro-life and 100% pro-2nd Amendment record. Windhorst has advocated for policies to reduce Illinois’ excessive taxes, burdensome regulations, and high cost of living.

Windhorst has risen through the ranks of House Republican leadership to be selected House Republican Floor Leader, leading debate and holding liberal Democrats accountable for radical leftist legislation.

“I have voted against legislation that restricts 2nd Amendment Rights, dangerous legislation that ends cash bail and punishes police officers, all measures that expand taxpayer-funded abortion services, and I’ve fought to end Illinois’ Sanctuary State law that has cost taxpayers billions,” Windhorst said. “Liberal Democrats have gone too far in pushing our state and country’s politics to the left, and I’m fighting back.”

Windhorst served as Massac County State’s Attorney from 2004-2018 before a successful run for State Representative in the November 2018 election. Windhorst’s record has earned him key Committee assignments that include serving as the House Republican ranking member and spokesman on the House’s Ethics & Elections, Restorative Justice, and Judiciary Criminal Law Committees.

“The people of Southern Illinois have entrusted me to represent their values and be their voice in Springfield, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve them. This is my home, and I pledge to continue to defend our values in another term,” Windhorst said. “My record as a conservative Republican is strong and consistent. I am unwavering in my values and am proud of the record I have built.”
