Williamson County and Surrounding Areas Approved for SBA Disaster Declarations

MARION – The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security says the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved a disaster declaration for Williamson County and contiguous counties impacted by severe storms and tornadoes on May 16. This disaster declaration allows residents, homeowners, and businesses to apply for low-interest loans for damages not covered by insurance.

This declaration covers Williamson County and the adjacent counties of Franklin, Jackson, Johnson, Pope, Saline, and Union. SBA will have a Disaster Loan Outreach Center at 500 North Holland St. in Marion weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. now until July 2. It it closed on Sundays and will close permanently on July 3.

Homeowners can apply for up to $500,000 in low-interest loans to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners or renters can apply for up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property. Businesses and not-for-profits can borrow up to $2 million for physical damages.
