LAKE OF EGYPT – One person has been arrested and another is being sought for allegedly stealing utility wire earlier this month in Williamson County.

The sheriff’s office says after conducting surveillance on June 1 near the intersection of Lake of Egypt and Power Plant Roads regarding the theft of utility wire , deputies saw Cody J. Bozarth and Daniel G. Shepard enter SIPC property from Power Plant Road.
Sheriff’s investigators took pictures of the two men as they were leaving and were later able to track and locate the wire near the Creal Springs Mini-Mart including evidence of the theft that had been thrown into a dumpster. The wire was recovered and returned to the utility company.
Shepard was arrested on June 3 and cited for Theft, Criminal Damage to State Property and Criminal Trespass to Land. He was booked into the Williamson County Jail.
Investigators have a receipt showing that Bozarth sold the copper and utility wire to an area recycling center on June 3. A nationwide arrest warrant for Bozarth was then issued, but attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.
If you see Bozarth, do not approach him. Call the sheriff’s office at 618-997-6541 or “Submit A Tip” on the sheriff’s app.
