EWING – Norman R. Fitzpatrick, fondly known as “Stormin’ Norm” or simply “Norm,” age 68, of Ewing, passed away at 12:36 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, IL.
He was born on October 23, 1956, in Benton, IL, to Jack and Sonia (Hammers) Fitzpatrick. Norm worked as a welder on oil drill bits at KS Bits in Benton, IL. On September 10, 1974, he married Kathy Ann, who preceded him in death on January 4, 2020.
He was a member of Ewing First Baptist Church in Ewing, IL.
Norm was a loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved fishing and watching sporting events.
He is survived by his loving children, Brianna Fitzpatrick, Katelynn Fitzpatrick, and Robert Howell; three brothers, Mike Fitzpatrick, Jackson Fitzpatrick, and Elvis Fitzpatrick; his sister, Yolanda Patton; and a close friend, Ed Shelton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sonia Fitzpatrick; his wife, Kathy Ann Fitzpatrick; and two brothers, Jerry Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Fitzpatrick.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 South Main Street, Benton, IL.
Per Norman’s wishes, cremation will take place.
Private services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Norman’s honor may be made to the education fund for Brianna and Katelynn Fitzpatrick and will be accepted at the funeral home.
