Forest Service Closes Road near Johnson Creek after Storm Damages Radio Tower

JACKSON COUNTY – Forest Service Road 825 in the Johnson Creek area in Jackson County, beyond the picnic shelter, is temporarily closed to all foot, horse and vehicular traffic due to the Gum Ridge repeater site sustaining damage during the last wave of storms that went through the area.

That’s according to the U.S. Forest Service at the Shawnee National Forest.

Forest officials say some tree limbs fell on a few of the radio tower’s guide wires causing them to break.

The area is flagged off to keep people out of the area. For your safety, officials ask that you stay away from the area until a maintenance team can repair the tower.
