PADUCAH – The National Weather Service in Paducah says the risk for scattered to numerous strong to severe thunderstorms continues to increase for late Wednesday through Wednesday evening.

As of Tuesday morning, southern Illinois is in an enhanced risk for severe weather.
Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes are possible.
The hottest temperatures and heat index values of the season will arrive this weekend and continue into next week.
Daily peak heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees are forecast. This will lead to an elevated risk of heat-related illness. So take the proper precautions if you have to be outdoors.
