NASHVILLE – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Nashville Police are warning residents about a reported bank scam.
The sheriff’s office says someone identifying themselves as law enforcement called a person asking them to go to the bank and remove $2,000 from their account. The caller told them they would go to jail if they didn’t comply.
The bank notified police when the person tried to withdraw the money from their bank account. Police responded and stopped the transaction. They were not able to identify the suspect.
Authorities say if you are contacted under such circumstances, do not engage with the scammers or follow their instructions. You should contact your bank and report the incident to the sheriff’s office.
