MARION – Two men were honored by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday for saving a woman’s life last month at Crab Orchard Lake.

Zach G. Wagner and Brayden C. Edwards, who both work at Oasis Powersports of Marion, were each presented with a lifesaving award.
On May 27, deputies responded to a 911 call about a suicidal woman at the west end boat ramp. They discovered she was suffering from a serious mental health crisis, had taken a significant number of pills and entered the lake putting herself in imminent danger.
Wagner and Edwards were on the lake testing watercraft when they saw the woman in distress, floating face down and semiconscious. Without regard for their own safety, the men were able to quickly pull her out of the water. She survived.
Carterville EMS took the woman to a local hospital where she was safe and received necessary care.
