METROPOLIS – Donald L. Bennett, 93, of Metropolis, passed away at 9:15 a.m., on Friday, May 30, 2025, at his home in Metropolis, IL.
He was born on March 23, 1932, to Lowell and Dorothy (Sniderwin) Bennett in Benton, IL. He retired as a mechanic from Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant. On September 8, 1951, he married Sharla Joann Johnson, and she preceded Donald in death on October 27, 2022.
Donald was a loving father and grandfather.
Donald is survived by his two sons, Mark Bennett of Bowling Green, KY, and Frank Bennett and wife, Myra Wood Bennett of Metropolis, IL; his granddaughter, Dr. Andrea Bennett; and his grandson, Steven Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Dorothy Bennett; his wife, Sharla Joann Bennett; his brother, Max Bennett; and his two sisters, Geraldine Waller and Phyllis McClintock.
Services have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 South Main Street, Benton, IL.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 1 p.m., at the Brady Cemetery in Akin, IL, with Pastor Zachary Nave officiating.
