MARION – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a scam involving someone sending fake text messages to county residents claiming they have an outstanding unpaid traffic ticket or tickets.
If you receive this text, do not follow the instructions or the link provided to pay. Never meet scammers in person or agree to give them any money.
Traffic citations are paid at the Williamson County Circuit Clerk’s Office located in the Williamson County Courthouse. The sheriff’s office does not solicit money over the phone and no cash bond is generally required in Illinois criminal cases.
