Strawberry Festival, Plant Sale and Cruise-In Saturday in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON – The Jefferson County Historical Society presents the Strawberry Festival, Plant Sale and Cruise-In Saturday.

This is the seventh annual Strawberry Festival to be held at the Historical Village. Fresh strawberry shortcake, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs and chili dogs are on the menu. Additionally, food vendors will supply extra treats. Look for kettle corn, caramel candy, freeze dried fruit and candy. Local honey will also be available for purchase.

A large variety of plants will be for sale at incredible prices. You will also find gardening and landscaping decorations.

Strawberries will be for sale, if they are available. Anna’s Crochet items and Steve Stern’s iron art will be on site for purchase.

Free books will be given to children in the schoolhouse and children’s games will be on site. The Mobile Cat Café will join the festival with plenty of cats for petting.

The Cruise-In will also be located behind the Village by the red barn. If you are interested in participating in the Cruise-In, contact Brian Burwell at 618-246-6622. The entry fee will be by donation.

“The strawberry desserts are the star and every year we sell out. All the buildings and cabins will be open for tours. This will be a fun family event,” Dana Uhls, JCHS Community Relations Specialist.

The sponsor of this event is Mt. Vernon Tourism. The co-sponsors are Farm Credit Illinois (Mark Kabat), and Costa Law Office P.C.
