Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says 49-year-old Clarissa R. Schilly was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Jail charged with Aggravated Battery-Use of Firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Schilly was also wanted on a Franklin County Failure to Appear Warrant for Theft.

After getting a 911 call from the victim about being shot by Schilly, deputies responded and found the victim, but Schilly had already left the scene in a vehicle. A description of Schilly and the vehicle was sent out to area law enforcement.

Moments later, the sheriff’s office was notified that a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy had located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop within Jefferson County.  Franklin County deputies as well as Illinois State Police responded. Schilly was identified and taken into custody without incident. Her husband was taken by ambulance to Franklin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
