CARMI – A scam involving someone impersonating a White County Sheriff’s deputy asking for fines to be paid on individuals that have been booked into the jail has been reported to the White County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, under no circumstances would an officer solicit money by phone.
If anyone receives a call like this, please hang up the phone and do not send any money.
These individuals are spoofing the White County Jail phone number.
