Deputies found a vehicle sitting still with the individuals inside on Southern Hunt Road. Deputies approached the vehicle and identified Raymond A. Long as the driver. Long told deputies the vehicle’s battery died as they were talking and listening to music. Deputies asked Long who the vehicle belonged to. Long said it was a friend’s but was not willing to give their name. Long was discovered to have a suspended driver’s license.

Long was arrested and cited for Driving While License Suspended and No Valid Driver’s License. He was read his Miranda warning but refused to answer any further questions. He was taken to and lodged in the Williamson County Jail.

Then at 1:15 p.m., SIU Police contacted deputies saying the vehicle Long was in was stolen, but had not yet been reported when deputies approached it on Southern Hunt Road.

Deputies took Long to Jackson County and released him to the custody of SIU Police.
