MT. VERNON – George Russell Dutton, age 85, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Russ was born June 4, 1939 in Cave-In-Rock, IL. He was a son of Loy Dutton and Audrey (Smith) Dutton.
Russ loved fishing, sports and working on cars. He loved the Cubs. He attended Logan St. Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Tressie Florene Dutton, Mt. Vernon, IL; sons, Russell Dutton and wife Sharon, Mt. Vernon, IL., Scott Dutton, Benton, KY, and Brad Dutton, Mt. Vernon, IL; and brother, Loy Dutton, Evansville, IN. Grandchildren, Samantha Dutton, Melissa Dutton, Cassie Kiel, David Dutton, Sean Dutton, Darrel Dutton and Taylor Dutton. Eleven great-grandchildren and two on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Leo Dutton.
Visitation for Russ will be Saturday, May 17, 2025, from noon to 2 p.m., at Harre Funeral Home, in McLeansboro The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Steve Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McLeansboro.
