SPRINGFIELD – State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) was one of many state legislators who met with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during her visit to Springfield Wednesday to highlight the dangers posed by Illinois’ sanctuary state policies.

Bryant says it was a privilege to meet with Secretary Noem and stand with her as she brought national attention to the real consequences of Illinois’ sanctuary state agenda. Her visit reinforced what many of us have been saying for years: Governor Pritzker’s policies are not just misguided; they are dangerous according to Bryant.
By blocking law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities, Bryant says the Pritzker Administration has created a system that protects criminal illegal immigrants while putting law-abiding Illinoisans at risk. The consequences have been devastating for the citizens of our state.
Bryant says Governor Pritzker may be preparing for a high-profile appearance in Washington, but Illinois families are living with the fallout of his choices every day. She says we need leaders who are willing to prioritize the safety of our communities, not their political ambitions.
Bryant says Secretary Noem’s visit was a wake-up call. The question is: will Illinois’ leaders finally listen?
