Kali Uchis recently revealed the passing of her mom, and now she has written about the unconditional love she receives from her child (with Don Toliver) on her new single “ILYSMIH.” The song will be included on Kali’s upcoming 14-track album Sincerely, due out May 9.
In a statement, Uchis spoke about letting the public into her ever evolving world through the record. “‘ILYSMIH’ is me sharing a piece of my heart with the world. Living a life that is rich in love and inner peace hasn’t come easy. I hope this song will find anyone who needs it.”
Uchis also captioned an Instagram post regarding the death of her mother: “In loving memory of my mommy, who left this Earth not long ago. No words can explain how much I miss you mommy. I miss your daily calls to see my baby. How you laughed hysterically about silly things. How easy it was to make you smile. If I could call you now and show you my baby walking everywhere I know your face would light up. And I imagine you that way forever. You survived so much, may you rest in heavenly peace mommy. With love, till we meet again.”
Sincerely, is Uchis’ third studio album, following 2024’s Orquídeas and 2023’s Red Moon in Venus. She shared the album’s lead single, “Sunshine & Rain…,” last month.
