Norris City Receives State Money for Watermain Replacement Project

NORRIS CITY – The Village of Norris City has received funding from the Illinois EPA’s Public Water Supply State Revolving Loan Fund for Phase 4 of its Watermain Replacement project.

The fund receives a portion of its money from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Norris City will receive over $955,000 which will be repaid over 30 years. Over $678,000 of the loan amount will be forgiven by the State of Illinois pursuant to principal forgiveness provisions contained in the Loan Rules.

Plans call for replacing existing old and undersized water mains including appurtenances, existing 12-inch diameter raw watermain and manual read water meters with new radio read water meters in the village’s service area.

The project will replace the aforementioned aging and failing water system components to improve the infrastructure.
