Suspect Sought in Saturday Night Crash in Carbondale

CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police are looking for a suspect who crashed a vehicle into a house in the 500 block of South Forest Street around 5:15 Saturday night.

Police say the crash caused a fire to start in the house. Carbondale firefighters extinguished the fire. The home sustained significant damage. The residents were home at the time of the crash. They escaped without injury.

Witnesses told police the vehicle’s driver fled the scene on foot after the crash. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a white t-shirt. He was last seen running west on West Cherry Street. It was then reported to officers that the vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot in the 900 block of West Main Street minutes before it crashed into the home on South Forest.

Police at this time have not been able to determine the driver’s identity. This case remains under investigation.
