CARMI – Kick off the Holiday Season Saturday as “It’s a White County Christmas” begins with the 2024 Miss Merry Christmas Pageant.
Sixty-two brave young ladies will take the stage at the Carmi-White County Junior High Auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 16, beginning with Baby and Toddler contestants at 1:30 p.m., followed by Tiny, Little, Junior and Miss contests starting at 5:30 p.m.
Get a front row seat to the crowning of the new Christmas royalty. Admission is $5 at the door.
More Carmi Chamber Christmas events will take place on Saturday, Nov. 30. Take a stroll down Main Street, visit all the local shops, taste some yummy baked goods and participate in other fun contests. – Shopping Stroll. For each $20 receipt, dated 11/29/24 and/or 11/30/24 from a retailer in White County, enter for a chance to win one of four $100 Prizes. Entries are due by Monday, Dec. 2. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
– Gingerbread House Contest at Washington Attendance Center 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Free to enter. $$ Prizes for Adult & Children Categories.
– Taste of Christmas at The Black Diamond Inn & Social House on Main Street 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Free to enter. $$ Prizes for Adult & Children Categories. Be a judge for only $3.
– Lighted Parade. Line up at 4:30 p.m. Start at 5:30 p.m. Free to enter. All vehicles and those walking should be covered in lights! https://form.jotform.com/242750238810150
– Tree Lighting & Santa will be in Theater Park just after the parade. Santa will be in his house until 8 p.m. Winners of contests will be announced.
Visit the Lights of Hope at the Fairgrounds this holiday season and pick up a Merry & Bright House map. Homeowners with Carmi addresses are invited to enter this friendly competition for the best decorated house. Winner will receive Carmi dollars to be spent at any business in Carmi. Businesses are also invited to decorate their storefronts for a contest among White County businesses. Deadline to enter is also Nov. 25 but judging will take place on Dec. 12 with the winner announced shortly afterwards.
