CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man is in the Jackson County Jail in connection with a shooting in the 500 block of South Graham Street around 9:20 Tuesday night.
Carbondale Police say officers responded to the area for a report of shots fired and learned the driver of a red vehicle with black wheels in the roadway exchanged gunfire with a man standing in front of a home. The shooter in the vehicle was last seen traveling west on East Mill Street. The driver’s description is not available.
During the investigation, officers identified the suspect who fired from the front of the home as 26-year-old Shomari D. Lipscomb of Carbondale. Officers located Lipscomb and charged him with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification Card. A firearm and other evidence were collected. Lipscomb was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
There was property damage as a result of bullet strikes. The person who shot from the vehicle has not yet been identified. There are indications that this incident is related to a personal dispute between known acquaintances.
