JOHNSTON CITY – A man was cited for drug offenses after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies saw the vehicle he was in commit several vehicle violations and pulled it over around 7:10 p.m. Saturday in Johnston City.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, while speaking with the driver and completing a written warning, a sheriff’s office K9 arrived and conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle.
Deputies advised that the K9 provided a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and a clear plastic bag containing methamphetamine was located in a duffel bag containing men’s clothing. The items belonged to a passenger, identified as Chad W. Karnes, and included a birthday card with his name on it. Also found was an Apple iPhone box containing packaging waste, packaging materials and hypodermic syringes with residue which field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Karnes was cited for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Karnes was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
