METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, July 1, 2024.
On June 25, 2024, Nathan R. Anderson, 37, of Metropolis was arrested in the 300 block of West 10th. Anderson was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Violation of an Order of Protection. Anderson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On June 25, 2024, Lateshia M. Jackson, 38, of Metropolis was arrested in the 1200 block of Coburn. Jackson was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Theft. Jackson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On June 28, 2024, a Metropolis sergeant stopped a white Lexus on U.S. 45 and 12th Street. The vehicle had suspended registration. The driver, Christopher T. Powers, 54, of Metropolis was asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle which he denied. He was informed that the vehicle was going to be towed since the registration was suspended and he could not provide proof of insurance. As he was exiting the vehicle, a handgun was observed in the driver’s door. Powers did not have a FOID or concealed carry permit. The .40 caliber pistol was loaded with a full 13 round magazine and one in the chamber. A further search of the vehicle revealed that he was in possession of scales and 6 plastic baggies that contained over 100 grams of cannabis. Powers was charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Deliver, Possession of over 100 grams of Cannabis, Aggravated Unlawful Use/Possession of a Firearm and no FOID. Powers was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On June 28, 2024, a Metropolis officer was advised that Gabrielle M. Steinke, 26, of Metropolis was wanted on warrants issued by Paducah, KY, Police. The officer confirmed that the warrants were for Bail Jumping 1st degree, Contempt of Court, Possession for Methamphetamine, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Wanton Endangerment. The officer located Steinke at the Super City Bar and Grill on Devers Road. She was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On June 28, 2024, a Metropolis officer observed a vehicle on Pullen Road. He recognized the vehicle as one driven by Stephen S. Youman, 29, of Metropolis. The officer was aware that Youman had a revoked driver’s license. A computer check on the registration returned to a different vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted as it pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot. Youman fled from the vehicle on foot across 5th St and a foot chase ensued. As the foot chase went behind the school bus barn towards Fort Massac, a taser was deployed and Youman was taken into custody. A search found him to be in possession of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe. Youman was charged with Driving while License Revoked, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Registration, Improper Use of Registration, and Resisting Arrest. Youman was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On June 30, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the area of 10th and Ferry for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, a Metropolis officer observed Brandon L Smith, 41, of Joppa struggling with a female. Upon seeing the police, Smith fled the area. A foot chase ensued and Smith was caught near North Avenue and 12th. Upon speaking with the victim, officers learned that Smith was trying to take money from her purse. Smith was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery, Robbery, and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
