Second Juvenile Wanted in Early May Shooting in Carbondale Now in Custody

CARBONDALE – The second juvenile suspect wanted in a shooting in the 500 block of South Rawlings Street in Carbondale earlier this month is now in custody.

According to Carbondale Police, the juvenile turned themselves in at the police department Monday afternoon.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, police responded to the 500 block of South Rawlings Street and began an investigation of three individuals who were injured by gunfire. During the ensuing investigation, police detectives identified two juvenile suspects from Carbondale.

With the assistance of the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, arrest warrants were granted for their arrest. 

One of the juvenile suspects came into the police department Sunday and surrendered themselves on the warrant. The second juvenile suspect did the same thing Monday. The juvenile was lodged in a juvenile detention facility pending a court appearance.
