BENTON – In a garden of memories, she blooms,
A rose with layers, like life’s sweet tunes.
Her hands crafted pies and cookies divine,
As the kids stole dough, her laughter would shine.
She cooked with love, beyond compare,
In her garden of life, she tended with care,
Each bloom a story, each moment rare.
A seamstress skilled, she stitched dreams in lace,
In every stitch, her love did embrace.
A teacher of life, philosopher wise,
With grace and wit, she’d mesmerize.
In her independence, she’d never hide.
She sacrificed, for her children’s sake,
Her strength, a fortress, never to break.
The tallest rose in life’s garden, she’ll stay,
In memories cherished, forever and a day.
Her love, her laughter, her wisdom so rare,
In every heart, she’ll always be there.
The world lost a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Thursday, April 25th, 2024. Jeannette F. Seymour (Jan) was 84 years young. She loved her family fiercely, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Baking with them, gardening with them, endlessly supporting them and sacrificing for them. She also loved her church family and Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived a life of service, dropping everything to lend a helping hand. Baking pies to celebrate others or for a thank you, sending handwritten cards for any occasion, she showed all of us around her what serving others as a way of life looked like. She was also an avid gardener, at her happiest toiling in the soil with her flowers and plants. Always quick to tell you of her love and support, instilling in each of us we could achieve anything. “Can’t never did anything” was the constant reminder. She would tell each of us no matter what we chose to do with life, just strive to be the best we could be. A constant image of work ethic and commitment. She was the wind beneath each of our wings, and even when we might have been in our unlovable phases or moments, you always knew her love and acceptance was just a phone call or visit away. Each of us has treasure chests overflowing with memories of her and her lifelong impact.
Our beloved cornerstone of our family is survived by her daughter Kelley Eubanks (husband Richard) and son Jason Clark (wife Lanän). Grandchildren Chandra McDevitt (husband Nick Goeke), Abbie Eubanks, Kennedy Clark and Kole Clark. Great grandchildren Gillian Eubanks, Tenisyn Eubanks, and Fynlie Flood. Brothers Carel Lee Long (wife Hope) and Phillip Long (wife Gwen). Sisters Sharon (husband Bill) Stull and Arlene Belcher, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Nell Davis and grandfather Ira “Jim” Davis, her mother Fleta Tilton, and father Carel W. Long. Sisters Jenetta Trussel and Darlene Simmons, and granddaughter Tandi Rhiannon Eubanks.
