Opdyke Man Arrested on Charges of Producing Child Pornography

MT. VERNON (WMIX) – Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies have made another child pornography arrest. This time a 28-year-old Opdyke man was booked Monday afternoon into the Jefferson County Jail for alleged production of pornographic material depicting a child.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Wallace, Anthony H. Powell was arrested Monday afternoon when search warrants were executed at Powell’s home and devices were seized that stored files containing pornographic material.

The arrest was the result of an investigation into the possession of child pornography that was launched based upon a cybertip about child pornography activity in the area.

However, when the search warrant was executed investigators reportedly discovered files that included material it’s believed Powell created. The alleged child victim in the files was subsequently identified which could lead to additional charges.

He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on two Class X felony charges of producing child pornography. Powell will remain in custody pending the filing of formal charges in Jefferson County Court and a pretrial detention hearing.
