ZEIGLER – The Illinois State Fire Marshal is investigating a Friday night fire at a Zeigler home.
Zeigler firefighters responded shortly before midnight to a home in the 800 block of Maple Street for a fire in the basement.
Firefighters reportedly first noticed a fire on the back corner of the home outside of the basement door. They were able to quickly knock down the flames and keep them from entering the main area of the home.
According to fire reports, the basement suffered smoke damage with a pile of rubbish forming near the basement door.
No injuries were reported.
