Carbondale Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Wednesday Stabbing

CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man has been charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon after Carbondale Police responded to the 900 block of East Park Street early Wednesday morning for a report of a battery in progress.

According to Carbondale Police, when officers arrived around 12:07 a.m., they found a victim with multiple stab wounds and began rendering aid. The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and was treated for serious injuries. 

Officers learned that the suspect, 21-year-old Cody W. Simon of Carbondale, stabbed the victim during a personal dispute and left the area prior to officers arrival. 

At 11:13 a.m., detectives located Simon at a home in the 700 block of South Wall Street and arrested him without incident.

Simon was charged with the offenses we already mentioned and lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
