Eldorado School Board Fires Boys’ Basketball Staff at Special Meeting

ELDORADO – All five members of the Eldorado High School boys’ basketball team were fired at a special Eldorado School Board meeting Tuesday night.

Their firing stems from an incident last week that took place during the Eldorado/Hamilton County boys’ basketball game at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament.

The vote to fire Head Coach Josh Bradley and the other four members was not unanimous because a couple of members abstained from voting.

The school board hired former Galatia and SIC Coach Rod Wallace as interim head coach for the rest of the season.

A very large and hostile crowd attended the meeting. Several citizens were allowed to speak, all of which supported Bradley. There was also a big police presence at the meeting.

Following Thursday’s incident, Eldorado High School released a statement saying the school’s administration was conducting a thorough investigation in collaboration with officials from both schools.

The Eldorado School District said it would not tolerate the unsportsmanlike behavior displayed during the game and the student involved would face appropriate consequences.

Following the game, Eldorado promptly reported the incident to the Illinois High School Association and was in close cooperation with them.

The school district refrained from commenting on specific disciplinary actions regarding students or staff due to confidentiality reasons.

Tuesday night’s boys’ basketball game between Eldorado and Mt. Carmel was canceled.
