MARION – A fatal accident involving a City of Marion employee happened Friday morning.
According to a City of Marion press release, the accident happened at the Marion Street Department on South Van Buren Street.
City of Marion spokesperson Cody Moake tells us the employee who was killed was 52-year-old Michael “Mike” Miller of Johnston City.
The Illinois State Police was called in to investigate Miller’s death. ISP says Miller was struck by a piece of heavy equipment operated by another city employee on city property.
Marion Fire, Marion Police and United Medical Response all responded to the scene. Miller later died at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
The Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of Miller’s funeral arrangements.
