Two Taken to Hospital after Being Hit by Train in Du Quoin

DU QUOIN – Two pedestrians suffered significant injuries after being hit by an Amtrak train early Tuesday morning in Du Quoin.

Du Quoin Police say it all happened around 1 a.m. in the area of Main and Franklin streets.

The two adults were taken to Marshall Browning Hospital before being airlifted to another hospital.

The train was going south at the time of the incident and no other injuries were reported. The train was delayed over an hour. It was en route to Carbondale from Chicago.
