Herrin Man Identified as One of Three Men Killed in Weekend Crash

HERRIN (WMIX) – The City of Herrin and Herrin High School have identified one of the three men killed in a two-vehicle crash in Scheller as 2021 graduate Hayden Lence.

The City of Herrin confirmed Lence worked for the Public Works Department at the time of his death.

He was one of three individuals killed just before midnight late Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Scheller.

The other occupant of the 2017 Buick that crossed the center line and struck a 2023 Chevy pickup head on was from Scheller. He was also 20-years-old but his identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the Chevy was 37-years-old and he was from Collinsville. The 32-year-old passenger in the truck was the only person to survive the crash. He was airlifted from the scene to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
