Carbondale Man Injures Known Acquaintance during Dispute, Charged with Aggravated Assault, Domestic Battery

CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man was arrested after Carbondale Police said he injured a known acquaintance during a physical altercation while also possessing a firearm at a home in the 2400 block of South Illinois Avenue in Carbondale early Sunday morning.

Police responded to the disturbance just before 3:30 a.m. and arrested 23-year-old Zachary X. Vineyard for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Domestic Battery, Endangering the Life or Health of a Child and No Firearm Owner’s Identification Card. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. The victim received minor injuries as a result of the incident. There was a child present in the home during the incident.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
