Man Cited in Williamson County for Meth Possession, Child Endangerment

MARION – A man was recently cited for a few offenses including meth possession and child endangerment after Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputies saw a vehicle in the area of Illinois 148 and I-57 operating in violation of the Illinois Vehicle Code

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Rusty A. Leeper around 11:10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.

When deputies spoke to Leeper after stopping him, Leeper said his name was Frank W. Reynolds. A driver’s license check discovered that no such person existed matching the information provided. Deputies returned to the driver and asked for his real name. The driver stated Rusty A. Leeper. While speaking to Leeper, deputies observed a small unrestrained child sitting in the front passenger seat. Leeper was placed in handcuffs and searched incident to arrest.

While searching Leeper, deputies located a hypodermic syringe containing a brown liquid that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Leeper was issued citations for Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstructing Identification, Endangering the Life or Health of a Child, Driving while License Suspended and No Valid Driver’s License.

Leeper was transported to and remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
