MARION – Both directions of I-57 south of Marion will be shut down, weather permitting, starting at 7 p.m. Sunday to prepare the Grassy Road Bridge over the interstate for demolition and reconstruction. The closure will run from exits 45 to 54. All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. Monday.
During that time, a marked detour will be in place to direct northbound and southbound traffic around the work zone between exits 45 and 54. The detour will utilize Illinois 13 and Illinois 148 in both directions.
The northbound on-ramps at Old Illinois 13 and Illinois 13 will remain open.
