WALTONVILLE – The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is reporting one person was killed in a house fire Wednesday morning near Waltonville, while another person was airlifted for injuries sustained in the fire.
Numerous area fire departments and emergency personnel responded to the location on Vermont Lane just east of Waltonville. The call reported entrapment in the home with flames through the roof.
Upon their arrival, firefighters found one person dead in the house. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
A second person was airlifted from the scene for treatment of injuries suffered in the fire.
The identity of the deceased person is being withheld until family members are notified.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
