MT. VERNON – A 57-year-old Ashley man was formally charged Monday in Jefferson County Court with multiple counts child pornography and criminal sexual assault.
Robert “Robbie” Paul is charged with two Class 1 felony counts of criminal sexual assault of a person under the age of 18 and nine counts of Class 2 felony possession of child pornography.
Prosecutors filed a motion in court requesting Paul be denied pretrial release in the case. Judge Jerry Crisel has scheduled a Nov. 1 detention hearing to decide the matter.
