BENTON – Edward Allen Brooks, 87, of Benton, IL passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton, IL at 11:41 a.m.
Edward was born July 14, 1936, in Equality, IL to Floyd and Amelia (Hollowell) Brooks. He was a member of Glory Bound Tabernacle in West Frankfort. Edward served in the Navy and Army for 10 years. He also was a coal miner for 35 years and a member of the UMWA. Edward loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife Connie Brooks; daughter Valerie Brooks; step-daughter Terri Page; step-son David (Sharon) Carter; sisters Janette Hoffman and Susie Dale; grandchildren Shannon (Calvin) Edwards, Derek Anthis, Brooke McGovern, Jake (Stephanie) Page, Emalee (Jeremy) Watkins, Kelsey Page, Logan Page, Adam Carter, Kiley Carter, and Ragan Carter; great-grandchildren Kori, Jackson, Enslee, and Jeremiah.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, IL with Leotta Burbank officiating. Burial will be in the Dillingham Cemetery in Corinth, IL. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday October 30, 2023, at the funeral home.
Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 1961 of Orient and Zeigler Post 177.
