Three Arrested after Illegal Drugs, Gun Found in Rural Franklin County Home

BENTON – Three people have been arrested and charged after a search of a rural Franklin County home found illegal drugs and a gun after a disturbance was reported there Monday.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says around 7:40 a.m., the sheriff’s office got a 911 call about the disturbance. The caller stated that a male subject on the property may have injuries.
Deputies soon responded and spoke with the caller and homeowner, who had fled the home prior to contacting the sheriff’s office. Deputies approached the home and were given information by the homeowner on how to enter the home. Upon entry, deputies located a male subject, who was having medical issues, and an ambulance was requested. While inside the home, deputies observed in plain view significant amounts of narcotics and narcotics associated paraphernalia. Deputies soon obtained a search warrant for the property. During the search of the property, methamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and a firearm were collected.
As a result 33-year-old Chelsey N. Atwood of Benton was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 15-100 grams, Possession of Cannabis 100-500 grams, Possession of Firearm without a FOID card and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Thirty-eight-year-old Jason P. Pruit of Benton was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 15-100 grams, Possession of Cannabis 100-500 grams, Possession of Firearm by a Felon and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Forty-year-old Charles A. King of Granite City was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 15-100 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
All three were taken to the Franklin County Jail for processing.
