HARRISBURG, IL– The Fowler Bonan Foundation is marking a significant milestone this September by celebrating the 5th year of its Heaven’s Kitchen initiative. Dedicated to offering a free weekly meal to local residents in need, the program has grown over the years, serving meals every week in both Marion and Harrisburg.
To celebrate their anniversary, they are inviting the community to come enjoy a delicious meal and some entertainment.
“We are blessed through the work of the Fowler Bonan Foundation to give a little back to the community and to enjoy such an outpouring of support for our mission of helping those in need,” said Dale Fowler, the Foundation Chairman. “This isn’t just about celebrating Heaven’s Kitchen. It’s about honoring all those who make it possible and the community we are so proud to serve.”
The special anniversary dinner being served is a savory fish fry. The Knights of Columbus will be assisting with the cooking that evening. The menu promises fresh fried fish, potato salad, classic hush puppies, baked beans, delicious desserts, and tea/coffee. Anyone is welcome to come enjoy a free meal, while supplies last.
The event will take place at the Presbyterian Church Annex Building, located at 21 W. Locust Street in Harrisburg, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Penguins.
“Heaven’s Kitchen has always been more than just a place to eat,” said Fowler. “It is a testament to the mission of the Fowler Bonan Foundation and the never-ending support, generosity, and compassion that exists here in Southern Illinois.”
